CAA Spotlight: Coach Miletta

Winter sports have begun and our Junior High Softball teams had their first pitch of the season. This week at CAA we are highlighting Troy Miletta, head softball coach and Athletic Director at Heritage Elementary.

Coach Miletta is entering his 9th year as the softball coach at Heritage Elementary. 82-20-2 regular season, 9-7 playoffs, 3x conference champions, State champions in 2018 and runner up in 2016 & 2017. These are amazing accomplishments for him and his team. We are excited to see how this season will go.

In addition, 23 of his players over the years went off to play some level of high school ball including 6 starting varsity as freshman, 3 all section players in high school and one state junior high player of the year.

Despite not having an actual practice field, Heritage Elementary, home of the Falcons, have never missed the playoffs. Coach Miletta says, “this year’s team is one of the youngest we’ve had. We will start 4-6th graders and 2-5th graders in our opening game due to injuries. This club will battle back from an off-year for us last year (11-4). I fully expect us to be in the mix come February. We possibly have the toughest schedule in Division 3 and that is partly by choice.”

The softball team has been working hard and strive to be ready for playoff time. They have 7 returners from last year’s team and one of the captains, Ava Villa. She is a four-year starter and wants to make sure she goes out with a bang. She plans on getting a W before leaving for high school next year. Good Luck, Falcons!
