2019 Varsity Football Update

CAA is more than halfway through a very successful Varsity Football Season. This success is thanks not only to Coaches and Athletes, but also to each team’s loyal fans. The Association wants to make sure all parents and fans are aware of this year’s Football Rules Changes – 2019

BY STATE ASSOCIATION ADOPTION, USE OF VIDEO REVIEW ALLOWED FOR STATE POST; SEASON CONTESTS ; IMPROVED VISIBILITY OF NUMBERS ;

REDEFINED REQUIREMENTS FOR A LEGAL SCRIMMAGE FORMATION ;

40-SECOND PLAY CLOCK; PROHIBITION ON TRIPPING THE RUNNER [PENALTY (NEW)]; ILLEGAL KICKING AND BATTING PENALTY REDUCED; HORSE-COLLAR TACKLE ADDITION

At this time, the leaders in Division 1A are: James Madison Prep 5-0, Orme 3-1, Highland Prep 4-1, and Gila Bend 2-2. In the Cactus Conference: is James Madison 6-0, Skyline Prep 1-3 New Way (1-3) The Passing Yards Leader is Quinn Lathrop (594); the Rushing Yards Leader is Ben Andrewson, (611) Receiving Yards Leader Maxx Becker (282) In Division 1, in the Coyote Conference: Highland Prep (5-1). Orme (3-2) Gila Bend (3-2). In Division 2, Fiesta Conference: Madison Highland (6-1), WSST (5-1), Desert Heights (5-1), The Yards Passing leader: Nolan Casaccio: The Rushing Yards Leader: Riley Casaccio, Receiving Yards Leader: Will Allen. In Division 2, Sun Conference: Heritage -Mesa (6-0), Imagine-Superstition (3-2), Imagine-Coolidge (2-3). In Open Division: Sequoia Pathway (4-0), San Tan-(3-1), ASU Prep-Phx (2-2), The Passing Yards Leader: Kris Sippel, (738), Rushing Yards Leader),and Receiving Yards Leader: Jo Joe Wallace (1677).
